With so many years of experience behind us, we are very happy to advise on all aspects of setting up and running a breeding herd. All of our breeding females are sold as pregnant with a guaranteed live birth. We can also provide attractive deals on subsequent matings to some of the best stud males in the UK.

When first setting up a breeding herd, we believe that a minimum of three females is best for a stress-free breeding group. Ideally, there should be at least one older, more experienced female as the leader, so that the social structure - so important for happy alpacas - is well-established at the outset. Also, we avoid matings & births between late autumn to early spring, as this can be another source of problems, particularly for the first-time breeder.

Igraine + Mab

Comments: A proven mother with good conformation and a dense fleece with a very soft handle and a fineness of 18.3 micron. Her sire is the famous Wessex Mateus (click on link for details), multiple Championship winner at three consecutive National Shows. Her mother is Viviane, one of our favorite fawn girls (see her details below). Igraine now has Mab, a beautiful female cria at foot, born in mid-June. Our new girl's daddy is a solid medium fawn sire, Wessex Samurai, the Supreme Champion winner at the Three Counties Show in 2008. We are so pleased with the result that we have remated Igraine to Samurai once again.

Nivetta + Helie

Comments: A very attractive dark brown female and a proven mother, Nivetta has an excellent fleece with good density and coverage with a fineness of 19.9 micron. Nivetta has an excellent pedigree with particularly good bloodlines for colour genetics. Her dam is Morganne (solid black), out of the famous prizewinning Shaft's Dream (also solid black). Morganne herself won 2nd place in her class (black female) at the Royal Bath & West Show in 2004, Europe's largest Alpaca event.

Nivetta was sired by The Golden Gun, a famous medium fawn stud who won Reserve Champion for Senior Male at the Royal Bath & West 2003 and the Royal Show 2004. She now has Helie, a most beautiful light fawn female cria at foot, born early June, out of Wessex Samurai, the Supreme Champion winner at the Three Counties Show in 2008.  With such an impressive result, we have mated her again to Samurai.

Clarisse

Comments:
A yearling female with very good conformation and a dense crimpy fleece with excellent coverage. She also has a lovely temperament and excellent bloodlines for colour genetics. Her dam is Iseulte, one of our top fawn girls out of the Australian famous stud Purrumbete Inti, a major prize winner in previous years. Daddy is Canchones Discovery (click on link for details), an impressive black male with four generation of black genetics behind him. She will soon be ready to start breeding, and with her strong colour bloodlines, we should expect some great results.

Viviane

Comments: An experienced and caring mother, she delivers consistently outstanding cria, all of whom have fine dense fleeces well under 20 micron. Some are available for inspection on the farm. With good coverage and density, Viviane's fleece has also held a consistently low micron count - last year fleece stats were still 21.7 micron & CV 17.1%.  Her Sire is Westwool Captain, bred by Mike Saffley.

She will be mated to Wessex Samuri, (solid medium fawn), the winner of Supreme Champion at the 2008 Three Counties Show, and whose combination of Accoyo bloodlines and solid colour genetics makes him one of our favourite studs.
